Artist's Description
The secret message of the gladiolus flower is to be unique and don't be afraid to be different. This unique flower is said to resemble a Gladiator's sword and thus symbolizes strength. The purple variety can be given to a partner, friend or co-worker to symbolize nobility, beauty, faithfulness and infatuation. The stem base was used by the English to extract thorns or splinters. It was also be ground into a powder and mixed with goat's milk to quiet a colicky baby.
