Artist's Description
The thistle is the national symbol of Scotland and symbolizes bravery, devotion, durability, strength and determination. Because it has two vastly different parts, the fuzzy purple head and the prickly green body, it represents the struggle to keep balance between head and heart. Sometimes we want to be prickly while at the same time being beautiful. The green part of the thistle unites the thoughts and emotions while the purple unites the physical with the spiritual. Milk thistle is also used to cure depression while blessed thistle tea is taken to prevent and cure fever.
