Description
This elegant flower was the symbol of the Duke of York in the war of Roses in 14th century England. The house of Lancaster, represented by Henry Tudor was symbolized by the red rose. Henry Tudor defeated Richard III of England and ascended to the English throne, placing it under the control of the Tudors. The rose is the official flower of England and the white rose is traditionally given to symbolize farewell or new beginning and is a favorite for a bridal bouquet.
