The first time I saw Cicely Tyson was in a movie called "The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman." The most memorable scene to me was when 100 year old Miss Jane walked up to the "white's only" water fountain, dressed in her Sunday best, and took a drink. We lost a legendary talent in Miss Tyson.

Wow!!!! I will check it out. I have not seen this movie on TV since the first airing. It was truly a classic.

Thank you for sharing this great portrait of the amazing Cicely Tyson as Miss Jane Pittman. I included a link to a clip on YouTube featuring this scene with my tribute to Ms. Tyson titled "This Honey-Sweet Taste of Freedom Honoring Cicely Tyson Number 1." The scene is so powerful & still draws tears.
