Artist's Description
Barack Obama is hands-down the most influential African-American in history, Coming from humble roots, he rose through the ranks becoming the first African-American editor of the Harvard Law Review and the first African-American president. Among his accomplishments as president, he was able to pass a comprehensive health care reform package known as the Affordable Care Act but nicknamed Obamacare, as well as rescue the country from the worst recession since the Great Depression. To me he represents hope that maybe our country is finally learning to evaluate people based on ability, not skin color and that my grandson may have opportunities to live up to his full potential thanks to the inroads made by this great man. This is a quick gouache study I completed for Black history month.
